Medway Black History Trust (BHT) is launching the 2014 Black History Month with a special event on Saturday 4th October in Military Road, Chatham, from 10am till 4pm.

There will be food, face painting, storytelling, live music and dancing.

The event will also see the launch of the new Medway BHT pamphlet on the black history of the First World War.

Cllr Isaac Igwe, Vice Chair of the Black History Trust who researched the new pamphlet said, “With the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, this year’s Black History Month will have a special focus on those who served our country, in some cases making the ultimate sacrifice”.

John Okomah, Cahir of the Black History Trust, added, “This year’s Black History Month launch is a great family celebration for all of the Medway community”.
